The Civilian Conservation Corps developed the park’s attractions, including the dam that created Lake Chewacla, throughout the 1930s and eventually gave possession of the land to the state. Chewacla State Park has a beautiful trail system for hiking and mountain biking that has been recognized as a National Recreation Trail since 2011. While there is no boat launch to allow access for motorized boats, guests are allowed to go kayaking and canoeing.
