Surrounded by Watts Creek and the Choptank River, Martinak State Park was acquired by the state of Maryland from the park's namesake George Martinak in 1961. Within the park, there is a multitude of modern campsites, boating access, and picnic spots. Amenities include a playground, a nature center, hiking trails, and shelters. The park is situated on 107 acres and is a favorite of RV campers from nearby cities Easton, Denton, and Cambridge. You can enjoy countless fun activities like fishing, boating, and attending seasonal events. The best time to visit this state park is in June and from mid-August to October for warm-weather activities.

Martinak State Park Campground
Martinak State Park features 63 sites suitable for RV camping divided into two loops. You can also use the sites for tent camping. Each campsite has a camping pad, picnic table, and a fire ring. About 30 of the sites have 30-amp electric hookups. However, sewer and water hookups are not available.
Tuckahoe State Park
Located just a few miles away from Martinak State Park, Tuckahoe presents a family camping opportunity with 54 fully equipped campgrounds and a central bathhouse. If you're a hiking enthusiast, the park has a 20-mile scenic hiking route to explore with your friends and family. You can also go for a boat ride or try your luck fishing at the 60-acre lake. Your children are also not left behind! They get to have fun at the recycled tire playground. Other activities include hunting, picnicking, canoeing, and biking.
Historic Blueberry Farm
The Historic Blueberry Farm offers an excellent camping site close to fantastic beaches. You can pitch your tent at the farm and pick your own blueberries in summer. With charcoal grills, picnic tables, fire pits, and a pavilion, this farm is a must-visit while at Martinak State Park. You can enjoy a hot shower at the outdoor cedar shower, located near the blueberry store. Some of the other amenities include picnic tables, bins, and potable water. Visitors can come with their pets too.
Killens Pond State Park
For wild animals and nature lovers, the Killens Pond State Park is a fun place to stay during your visit to the Martinak State Park. You'll have an opportunity to learn more about the creatures at the park's nature center. Tag along with your family and enjoy lunch together while viewing the beautiful outdoor deck at the Nature Center. This park offers kayaking, boat riding, and canoeing. It's also known for bird watching along the pond's edge. While there, take a walk to the river for some terrific paddles. You can also go pond fishing, biking, or attend a live concert at the theater.

The Watts Creek and the Choptank River offer a fantastic recreational opportunity for visitors touring the site with their RVs. If you love to go boat riding or angling, you'll enjoy the fishing and boating experience found here. Martinak State Park prides itself on fantastic hiking routes for sporty RV campers, and there is a nature center with stunning displays such as paintings of the site's flora and fauna. As hundreds of people flock to the Martinak State Park during the busy season, the park's management puts in place a massive array of colorful events to ensure the campers have fun. These activities include sunrise yoga, workshops, and junior rangers for kids.
How to Get to
Martinak State Park
Martinak State Park is situated on Maryland's Eastern shore just off MD Route 313, roughly 34 miles to the east of Bay Bridge. When coming from the Bay Bridge, drive east on US Route 50. Bear to the right and travel for approximately 7 miles. Turn left and head to MD Route 404. Maintain Route 404 for roughly 14 miles up to Denton where Route 404 joins Route 313.
This combined route will take you to the east of Denton. After approximately 2.5 miles, turn right on the Deep Shore Road. Maintain this road for just over half a mile, and it will lead you to the park's entrance road.
Entering Martinak State Park
You can access the park from 8 AM to sunset. However, other activities such as fishing and boat launch are permitted outside normal park hours. You won't be charged to use the trails and grounds.

You’ll want to visit Martinak State Park in the summer due to the abundance of guided nature activities offered. In past years, visitors have enjoyed group activities such as star gazing, bird-watching, and concerts.
You’ll need to reserve a camping spot by either securing one online or by calling 1-888-432-2267 to speak with an employee. Each spot costs $18.50 per night without electricity or $24.50 with electricity.
Winter months can reach a low of 29 degrees, while summer months can reach a high of 85. Spring and fall months generally average out to a comfortable 60 degrees. Each month has approximately four to eight rainy days.
Your pets can enjoy Martinak State Park along with the rest of the family. They aren’t allowed in cabins or shelters, but they can walk the trails and sleep in your RV.
Martinak State Park works with The Maryland Department of Natural Resources to provide and continually improve accessibility for disabled visitors. The park offers accessible playgrounds, picnic tables, pavilions, fishing piers, cabins, and campsites.
