The 47 miles of shoreline attract families looking for outdoor fun. For years, Northern Foothill Yokuts lived in the woodlands region. Today, Millerton Lake offers interpretive programs and recreational activities. Some of the wildlife that can be seen here includes cottontails, bobcats, coyotes and mountain lions.

With over 40 miles of shoreline for recreational water sports, this state recreation area offers boating, swimming and fishing. The hillside that surrounds the lake ranges from low-intensity hiking areas to challenging mountain bike trails. From Fresno, California, head southeast on North Street toward Tulare Street, turn left and follow for about a mile, then merge onto California Highway 41 North. Follow for about 19 miles, turn right onto California Highway 145 North and travel approximately 2 miles. You will begin seeing signs for Millerton Lake State Recreation Area.
