The history of Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest dates back to 1946 when the state of California acted to conserve more than 5,000 old-growth giant sequoias. The forest is also home to many streams, ponds, and rivers. Thanks to its elevation, the region stays cool throughout the year.

How to Get to
Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest

From Porterville (southwest of the forest), you'll head north on Highway 190 until you hit the town of Springfield. Turn left onto Balch Park Rd (J37) and follow it to the Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest.

From the northwest, you can take Yokohi Drive off Highway 198 in the town of Yokohi and follow it to the forest.
